Al-Allamah Al-Murabbi Al-Habib Umar Bin Hafiz Hafizahullah berkata: 2015-12-23 18.20.49

Ambillah dari pengajian bulan Ramadhan dengan hatimu mengagungkan kitab Allah Tabaraka wa Ta’ala (Al-Quran) sambil beramal dengannya. Sebaiknya kita luangkan waktu bersama mereka yang kita sayangi dari kalangan anak-anak kita untuk menghafal dan menjaganya (Al-Quran) dengan baik.

Dengan baik bermaksud dengan menghafal dan menjaganya serta mengagungkan kehormatannya dengan hati yang bersih, niat yang ikhlas, merendah diri kerana Allah Tabaraka wa Ta’ala, bersangka baik kepada hamba-hamba Allah dah mengasihi seluruh ciptaanNya.

Beginilah cara menjaga serta menghafal Al-Quran. Jika ia dijaga dengan sebaik-baiknya maka ia akan menambahkan kedekatan dengan Allah Ar-Rahman.

The Erudite Scholar of Islam and Spiritual Guide, Al-Habib Umar bin Hafiz says: 2015-12-23 18.20.49

Take from the lessons of Ramadhan – have reverence of the Book of Allah (the Qur’an) in your hearts and perform good deeds with it. Let’s make time for our loved ones – from our sons and our daughters, and persevere with memorising (hifz) it upon “Al-Wajh At-Tayyib“.

Al-Wajh At-Tayyib – the best manner of hifz – is to combine memorisation with reverence for its sanctity with purity of heart and sincere intention, and humbling oneself towards Allah; being subservient towards Him whilst having good thoughts of His servants and with being merciful towards all of creation.

This is how one establishes hifz of the Qur’an upon this best method (Al-Wajh At-Tayyib), where one will benefit from it by drawing close to The Most Merciful.

Ramadhan Dawrah Niat-niat Tatkala Membaca Al-Qur’an Yang Mulia oleh Sayyidil Habib Umar Bin Hafiz

(Untuk) bermunajat kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Pemurah dengan perkataan & ucapanNya
(Untuk) mencontohi Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ dalam pembacaannya
(Untuk) memperkasa ilmu & pengetahuan Al-Qur’an
(Untuk) mendapatkan keredhaan Allah lantas menambah curahan redhaNya ke atas kita

Ramadhan Dawrah Intentions of Recitation of the Noble Qur’an by Sayyidil Habib Umar bin Hafiz

Pleading to The Merciful by His Words and His Speech
Following the example of Sayyidina Muhammad ﷺ in its recitation
Extracting the (Qur’anic) sciences and knowledge
Seeking the Lord’s Pleasure and increasing His Pleasure (with us)
Establishing the commandment of Allah in reciting His book on Earth amongst the nation (of our Prophet ﷺ)
Delighting the Prophet’s noble heart ﷺ by reciting what was sent down upon it
Connecting with the chain of transmission which he recites with the Messenger ﷺ and adding with that, their rewards and recompense [1]
To discipline the lower self and purify the soul with the secrets of the noble verses (of the Qur’an) and its lights

Fawaid: The Salutation of Ramadhan

The Salutation of Ramadhan* by Al-Habīb Abu Bakr Al-‘Adny Bin ‘Ali Al-Masyhur

ٱلْلٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدِ النَّبِيِّ الأُمِّيِّ الَّذِي صَامَ نَهَارَ رَمَضَانَ حَقَّ الصِّيَام

O Allah, bless (sending solawah) our Master Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet who fasted the days of Ramadhan duly

وَقَامَ لَيْلَ رَمَضَانَ حَقَّ القِيَامِ

and prayed the nights properly

ودَعَا لِحِفْظِ الجَوَارِحِ عَنِ المَعَاصِي وَالآثَامِ

and called for protecting limbs from sins and evils cautiously

وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ الكِرَامِ

and (send solawah) upon his honourable family and companions

وَسَلِّمْ تَسْلِيماً كَثِيراً

and send immense salutations (salam) upon them

Selawat Ramadhan karangan Al-Habīb Abu Bakr Al-‘Adny Bin ‘Ali Al-Masyhur

Ya Allah sampaikanlah selawat ke atas Penghulu Kami Nabi Muhammad ﷺ, Nabi yang ummi, yang berpuasa di siang hari Ramadhan dengan sebenar-benar puasa

وَقَامَ لَيْلَ رَمَضَانَ حَقَّ القِيَامِ

dan beribadah (Qiamul-lail) pada malam-malam Ramadhan dengan sebenar-benar ibadah (Qiamul-lail)

ودَعَا لِحِفْظِ الجَوَارِحِ عَنِ المَعَاصِي وَالآثَامِ

dan menyeru ke arah pemeliharaan setiap anggota badan daripada maksiat dan dosa

وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ الكِرَامِ

serta (sampaikanlah selawat) ke atas keluarga dan sahabat-sahabatnya yang mulia

وَسَلِّمْ تَسْلِيماً كَثِيراً

dan kirimkanlah sebenar-benar ucapan salam terhadap mereka

The Degrees of Fasting

Imam Al-Ghazali (may Allah be pleased with him) says, “Know that fasting is of three degrees:

The Fast of the Masses (Sawm al-Umum)
The Fast of the Elite (Sawm al-Khusus)
The Fast of the Elect of the Elite (Sawm Khusus al-Khusus)

The Fast of the Masses (Sawm al-Umum) is leave of the stomach and the genitals from fulfilling desires whilst the Fast of the Elite (Sawm al-Khusus) is leave of the hearing, the sight, the tongue, the hands, the feet, and all the different body parts from sin. As for the Fast of the Elect of the Elite (Sawm Khusus al-Khusus), it is the fasting of the heart from worldly concerns and worldly thoughts – leave from everything except Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in completeness.”

It is narrated that al-Hasan al-Basri had passed by a group of people who were laughing merrily and said:

إن الله جعل في شهر رمضان مضمارًا لخلقه يستبقون فيه لطاعته، فسبق قوم ففازوا، وتخلف أقوام فخابوا، فالعجب كل العجب للضاحك اللاعب في اليوم الذي فاز فيه المسابقون وخاب فيه المبطلون

Meaning: “Verily Allah has made the month of Ramadhan a racecourse upon which His creatures compete in acts of obedience to Him. Some precede (others) and win, whilst others lag behind and lose. It is most amazing to find people laughing and playing on a day when success attends to those who precede, and failure to those who waste (it).”

Editor’s note:

The people of Tarim are known to extol Ramadhan by exerting their bodies and hearts in worship of Allah throughout its days and nights – completing the Qur’an recital several times in a single Ramadhan, and constantly occupying themselves in zikr (remembrance), supererogatory solah (the recommended, non-obligatory ritual prayer), and doa (supplications).

Traditionally, the mosques of Tarim hold Tarawih at different times of the night between Isha’ and Subuh. This tradition allows the people of Tarim to perform Tarawih at different mosques within their blessed city each night in Ramadhan. Hence, it is not uncommon to find Tarimis performing 100 rakaats of Tarawih or more every night. May Allah help us emulate the people of Tarim in giving Ramadhan its due, wherever we may be. Amin.

Fawaid: To Do on the Night of Eid

Kanzul Najah Extracts from Shaykh Abdul Hamid bin Muhammad Ali Quds Al-Makkiy Ash-Shaf’iy’s Kanz an-Najah wa as-Surur (Treasures of Success and Felicity)

Rasulullah ﷺ said,

من أحيا ليلتي العيدين أحيا الله قلبه يوم تموت القلوب

Meaning: He who enlivens the two Eids (with ‘ibadah), Allah will enliven his heart on a day when hearts die.

The meaning of “enliven his heart on a day when hearts die” alludes to one’s safety on the Day of Judgement and protection from having a bad end to one’s life (su’ul-khatimah).

Rasulullah ﷺ also said,

من أحيا الليالي الأربع وجبت له الجنة ليلة التروية وليلة عرفة وليلة النحر وليلة الفطر

Meaning: Jannah is obligatory for the one who enlivens four nights – the Night of Tarwiyah, the Night of Arafah, the Night of Eidul-Adha and the Night of Eidul-Fitr.

Amongst the ways one can enliven the night of Eid (other than making Takbir al-Eid and performing Solah an-Nafilah, which are well known in the Deen) is by making lots of zikir.

The following fawaid are mentioned in Kanz an-Najah wa as-Surur:

Faedah #1: Recite 400 counts of the following zikiruAllah between the entrance of Maghrib on the Night of Eid and Solatul-Eid:

لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ , لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ , يُحْيِى وَيُمِيتُ ,وَهُوَ حَىٌّ لاَ يَمُوتُ ,بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Meaning: There is no God but Allah, He is One and without partner, to Him is the Dominion and all praise, He gives life and brings forth death, He is Ever Living and doesn’t die, between His hands is goodness, He has power over all things

Rasulullah ﷺ said that whosoever recites in each of the two Eids (Eidul-Fitr and Eidul-Adha) 400 counts of “Laa ilaha illaAllah, wahdahu laa sharikalah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamd, yuhyi wa yumit, wa huwa hayyun laa yamut, bi yadihil-khayr, wa huwa ‘ala kulli sha-in qadir” Allah will wed him with 400 maidens (in Jannah). And it (his rewards) would be as if he had free 400 slaves. And Allah will send angels to build for him cities and plant trees for him up till the Day of Resurrection.

Faedah #2: Recite 300 counts of the following zikiruAllah between the entrance of Maghrib on the Night of Eid and Solatul-Eid:

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ

Meaning: Exalted is Allah and praise be to Him

The Doa in Entering Ramadhan of Sayyidil Habib Abu Bakr Al-Masyhur

O Allāh! Let the month of Ramadhan appear over us and upon the ummah by your Everlasting Grandeur and Your Favourable Gifts and Your Gentleness and Mercy for each praying and fasting servant. And equip our hearts, spirits and limbs for this pure servitude and do not prevent us O our Master from Your Bounty, Pardon and Mercy because of our wrongdoings and disobedience O Effacer, O Veiler O the Most Merciful of the merciful!

دعاء دخول رمضان لسيدي الحبيب ابوبكر المشهور حفظه الله

اللهم أهِل شهر رمضان علينا وعلى الأمة بعزك الدائم وعطائك الملائم ،ورافتك ورحمتك لكل عابد قائم صائم ..وهَيِّئ قلوبنا وارواحنا وجوارحنا لهذه العبودية المحضة ولا تحرمنا يا مولانا بفضلك ومغفرتك ورحمتك بذنوبنا وجرائرنا ومعاصينا يا غفار ياستار يا ارحم الراحمين
