The traditions of the Ba’alawi Sadah, specifically, and the people of Hadramawt, generally, are deeply rooted in sacred knowledge.

Imam Abdullah bin Alawi Al-Haddad (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The pillars of the Deen are four: The Sahih of Imam Al-Bukhari in Hadith; The Book of Tafsir of Imam Al-Baghawi in Qur’anic Exegesis; Minhaj Al-Tolibin of Imam Nawawi in Fiqh; and the comprehensive books, Ihya Ulum Ad-Din of Imam Ghazali. These are the principles upon which the Deen is built. We study many books but do not find anything more comprehensive than these. Time is short and these are the key principles upon which the Deen is built and relied upon.
